Keynote Addresses
Robert Barnhill, DTM, Accredited Speaker, Past International President, 1996 - 1997
“When you come to a fork in the road – Take It!”
We are inundated with a plethora of choices. We have so many choices to make each day; we become overburdened. Although we cannot avoid these choices, often, these choices cause inertia and prevent us from moving forward. How can we break free from the choices we must make and stop allowing them to shackle us? How can we make better choices and learn from the good and bad choices we have made? In this session, Past International President, Accredited Speaker, Robert Barnhill will explore ways to move past the wall of choices and discover a more rewarding, fulfilling life.

“Bridging the Generation Gap”
"The Radio Generation", "Baby Boomers", "Generation X", "Gen Why" - we've all heard these terms but often aren't sure what they mean to our Toastmaster clubs or businesses. This session will define the generations in our society today, explain similarities and differences. We’ll explore the success of various businesses in targeting certain generations. Then allow time for audience members to strategize ways to engage every generation in their club for maximum growth.

The “Energizer Bunny” Club: It Keeps on Giving and Giving and Giving
The Veterans Administration in Fargo has had a Toastmaster Club since 2000 and has been distinguished every year except one. The club is a community club but meets at the Veterans Hospital. Leadership at the Veterans Administration in Fargo recognizes the value of the Toastmaster club and endorses membership regularly. Why? The club has a history since it’s inception of giving back to the facility and to the community. This presentation will focus on how a club can give back to an organization (whether it is a corporate or community club), give back to the location used for a meeting place, or give back to the community. VAMROC TALK at the Fargo Veterans Administration has been giving back to the facility and community over and over and over again. They are proud of their legacy and excited to share their ideas and success with Region IV.

“Get STAGE SET for Stage Time”
“STAGE SET” is an acronym, which includes the first letters of the eight points to consider when you do an outline for a speech. The key to STAGE SET is the Speech Drafting Tool. On the left side of the Speech Tool, top to bottom, are listed the eight speech outline points. On the right side of the page is blank space for you to fill in regarding the eight speech outline points for your next speech.
The STAGE SET Speech Drafting Tool can be used in many ways:
1. By a speechwriter working alone on a speech outline.
2. By a speechwriter working with one or more mentors who assist the speechwriter to complete a speech outline.
3. By a speech writer to validate an already written speech.
